2017 Summer Activities

This summer of 2017 rpk headquarters have participated in two different activities with the same goal; that of integrating disabled persons.

For the first of these activities, rpk was one of the sponsors of the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament, which is an IMART 2017 event, held in Vitoria-Gasteiz between August 21 and 25. The fact that this event took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz was in recognition of the hard work of the local rugby team, Gaztedi Rugby Taldea, who in 2015 were awarded the Spirit of Mixed Ability Rugby Trophy for being the most inclusive club with disabled players. Now, after defeating the candidatures of cities with a long-standing passion for rugby such as London or Cork, the Basque capital held not only trophy games but also several academic sessions and diverse cultural activities in the city centre. The tournament hosted 15 teams of different nationalities and over a thousand people gathered in Vitoria-Gasteiz for the event. An international Rugby encounter was held in Vitoria-Gasteiz and just as one would expect the rpk group partnered the event.

Along the same lines, rpk collaborated with the most disadvantaged members of society and on June 27 rpk president, Josu Etxebarri received, on behalf of rpk, the diploma awarded by another collective, RAEP, for the work carried out by rpk to help incorporate the mentally ill into the business world. RAEP (Rehabilitación Alavesa de Enfermos Psíquicos S.L.) was created in 1992 by the association ASAFES in an aim to provide the mentally ill with a professional means to increase their employability.
